Raya's First Dock Dive in Competition

Raya did marvellously on her first run at Dock Diving in the Ultimate Air Dog Southern Championships in San Destin! First jump was a little over 8 feet and she was hesitating a bit. Pretty darn impressive for an 8 month old puppy!

Raya give us a big laugh in these video clips. On her 4th run at the dock she baulked and didn't want to go in...... well... that's what I thought!! I was back putting my shoes on and gathering up her leash and I hear the crowd erupting in laughter. The video cuts as my friend thought it was over and then picks up again when she is back in the water! What a hoot !! Not bad for an 8 month old puppy!!

Ultimate Air Dog - Raya's First Dock Dive in Competition

After just a couple of practice runs off the dock (which she saw for the first time) Raya makes a nice leap off the dock - it was an 8 foot jump earning her a Novice Jumper title in the Ultimate Air Dog Competition.

Raya Begins Table Training

Raya's table training is coming along nicely. We started about 2 weeks ago. We have not put a cue on it yet - just rewarding for being down on the table. We had a great distractions when Sonic lunged at the sliding door and starting barking right behind Raya. She did well and refocused back on me while I was waiting patiently for her to down on the table!!

Here are Raya and Sonic waiting at the door for their release word. Raya sure has grown. She was 10 inches or so 2 months ago and now at 7 months she is 12 inches.

Raya is doing great with circle work!! We are building speed and focus! Once again Sonic provide a good distraction!

TRAINING RAYA's SIT STAYS

Raya is doing great with her sit stays in the backyard with Sonic. She is working very well and doing great with focus work. As the heat is a factor (95 degrees this particular day) lessions are short and motivation high!

Raya Takes the Leap!!

On the 4th of July, 2008, Raya finally takes the leap into the swimming pool on her own. The video was taken the next day - she was jumping into the pool every chance she got. However, I think it looks as though both Sonic and Raya are trying to drown each other ! :)

We took the "sit stay for a toy" outside with Sonic barking and running around us as a good distraction. She did really well and focused on me and the toy!

We started "sit for the toy" inside the house - which is the intial training for the start line stays! She caught on to it pretty darn quickly. We are doing more duration of the sit and will start to add more distractions
